Reliable distribution of computational load in robot teams

چکیده

Abstract Modern multi-robot systems often need to solve computationally intensive tasks but operate with limited compute resources and in the presence of failures. Cooperating share computational between robots at edge reduces execution time. We introduce evaluate a new computation load management technology for teams robots: Reliable Autonomous Mobile Programs (RAMPs). RAMPs use information about available team cost model decide where execute. are implemented ROS on collection Raspberry Pi-based robots. The performance is evaluated using route planning, typical computationally-intensive robotics application. A systematic study demonstrates high likelihood optimal or near-optimal distribution hence efficient resource utilisation. successfully complete simultaneous, successive, robot failures network failures, while preserving distribution.

Load Distribution Performance of the Reliable Server Pooling Framework

The Reliable Server Pooling (RSerPool) protocol suite currently under standardization by the IETF is designed to build systems providing highly available services by providing mechanisms and protocols for establishing, configuring, accessing and monitoring pools of server resources. While availability is one main aspect of RSerPool, load distribution is another. Since most of the time a server ...

Teams for Teams Performance in Multi-Human/Multi-Robot Teams

The present study addresses the interaction between automation and organization of human teams in controlling large robot teams performing an Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) task. We identify three subtasks: perceptual visual search for victims, assistance teleoperation to assist robot, and navigation path planning and coordination. For the studies reported, navigation was selected for automatio...

Cooperation in Human-Robot-Teams

In this paper, the concept of human-robot-team is presented. Because of its high flexibility and adaptability, the human-robot cooperation is expected to have a wide range of applications in uncertain environments, not only in future construction and manufacturing industries but also in service branches. A multi-agent control architecture gives an appropriate frame for the flexibility of the hu...

Collaboration in Human-Robot Teams

Many new applications for robots require them to work alongside people as capable members of human-robot teams. These include—in the long term—robots for homes, hospitals, and offices, but already exist in more advanced settings, such as space exploration. The work reported in this paper is part of an ongoing collaboration with NASA JSC to develop Robonaut, a humanoid robot envisioned to work w...

Behavioral control of robot teams

This paper discusses the modeling and control of fully autonomous and semi-autonomous robots, operating individually or as teams, in a behavioral context. The recent developments in networking technologies foster the use of teams of robots in a variety of applications, e.g., surveillance and rescueing. Additionally, the inclusion of human agents in a team of robots raises relevant questions on ...
